The EU boycott should not have been a surprise. Interview with Susanne Urban, a German historian, who elucidates on the situation.

“Anti-Semitism was officially delegitimized in Germany after its surrender in 1945. This happened first in public areas such as politics, economy, culture, art and later on in society at large. Public debates and the social environment show however that since the late 1990s, anti-Semitism is expressed again more openly in manifold variations. Contemporary anti-Semitism has a solid base in the German mainstream.”

Dr. Susanne Urban, a German historian, heads the Historical Research in the International Tracing Service (ITS) Bad Arolsen. Before that, she worked for five years at Yad Vashem. She has also published a number of books.

“Several studies in recent years gave us more insight into levels of German anti-Semitism. In 2008, all parliamentary parties agreed to appoint an expert group. It was charged with obtaining an understanding of how far anti-Semitism had permeated German society and how to combat it more effectively. The ten experts were also asked to present recommendations regarding education and training of educators.

“The assignment stressed that findings concerning levels of anti-Semitism should be connected to questions about Germany’s democratic stability. The experts also focused on post-Holocaust anti-Semitism and Muslim anti-Semitism.

“In August 2011, their report was published and presented. It stressed the importance of confronting ‘secondary anti-Semitism.’ One major aspect of this is that people refuse responsibility for the Holocaust. This reflects a variety of widespread opinions. Included is that Germany is the victim or even hostage of survivors and that Holocaust compensation payments are sometimes denounced as a robbery committed by ‘The Jews.’

“This opinion is fueled further nowadays by those Germans who promote multiple types of self-victimization. This phenomenon expresses itself for instance as: ‘We were victims too but never got compensation.’ Victims and perpetrators are often inverted. In 2008, more than two-thirds of Germany’s population were annoyed to different degrees by recollections of Nazi crimes and their victims.

“The study also found that in 2010, secondary anti-Semitism was shared by 40% of Germany’s population. An identical percentage considered that Israel behaves like Nazi Germany today. Secondary anti-Semitism is not specific to Germany, but is found in high percentages in Poland and Hungary as well. In the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, these figures are much lower.

“Anti-Zionism as one variety of anti-Semitism often manifests itself as ‘criticism of Israeli politics, strategies and actions.’ It is found in all spheres of German society, be it Leftist or Rightist, Muslim or Christian. Anti-Zionism and secondary anti-Semitism often overlap for instance by making comparisons between Nazis and Israeli politics or between Holocaust victims and the Palestinians. This is also used to deny contemporary responsibility for Germany’s history or commemoration of the victims. Anti-Zionist attitudes do not differ if one is ideologically on the left, right, or a liberal.

First Green to sign London Declaration

NSW Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham is among around 70 state parliamentarians who have added their signature to the London Declaration on Combating Anti-Semitism in the last two weeks.

Buckingham, who is a member of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Israel, is the only NSW Greens MP to have signed the declaration.

“There’s a symbolic importance to sign this very important document that condemns anti-Semitism and reaffirms our commitment to stamp out anti-Semitism,” he told The AJN. (Isn’t that nice? Anti-Semitism meaning any oppostition to what the kikes want!)

“It’s important that all political parties recognise the dangers of anti-Semitism, recognise how disastrous it was in the 20th century, and we have to be mindful to stamp it out wherever it rears its ugly head – in any way, shape or form – in our modern society.” (Ha ha ha… Sure, I don’t know how any Gentiles would cope without Jews ruling over them! We might actually live freely without all the Jewish bullshit… Kind-of like the Germans back in the ’30s)

In contrast with many of his Greens Upper House colleagues who have been critical of Israel, Buckingham said he supported the clause in the declaration condemning the singling out of Israel for discriminatory treatment in the international arena.

“I recognise the State of Israel. I want to see self-determination for the people of Palestine as well, so I think it’s a very fair document,” he said.

Around 50 Coalition MPs and 20 members of the Labor caucus have now signed the declaration.

Meanwhile, on the federal political scene, Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus sent an open letter to Opposition Leader Tony Abbott on Monday requesting the Coalition reverse its stance on repealing Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act, in light of the Coalition’s 105 parliamentarians all having signed the London Declaration.

In his letter, Dreyfus drew parallels between two clauses in the London Declaration and Section 18C, which makes it unlawful to publish material which offends or insults a person or group because “of the race, colour or national or ethnic origin of the person or of some or all of the people in the group”. (Jews are intent on GENOCIDING the entire White Race and WE are supposed to care about their feelings? Fuck that. They spend most of their time banging on about the Holocaust (which never even happened), thereby FALSELY DEMONISING the GERMANS as a GROUP, and more broadly the whole WHITE RACE!!!! Dreyfus and all the parliamentarians should be tried and found guilty under Section 18C themselves!!! The case is EASY to make….)

NSW leaders unite against hate

PREMIER Barry O’Farrell and Opposition Leader John Robertson have cast party politics to the side, when they signed the London Declaration on Combating Anti-Semitism.

The historic ceremony took place on Tuesday at Parliament House, with NSW Jewish Board of Deputies (JBOD) president Yair Miller and CEO Vic Alhadeff in attendance.

O’Farrell said it was up to political leaders “to do everything they can” to stamp out anti-Semitism.

“It worries me that decades have passed since the end of World War II and yet there is still a need to speak out about abhorrent anti-Semitic activity,” he said.

“This is an issue above politics – which is why I am delighted it has bipartisan support.”

Robertson said it was an honour to sign the declaration “in a spirit of bipartisanship”.

“Leaders of political parties have a duty to speak out against anti-Semitism – and we speak stronger when it is with one voice,” he said.

“The horror of the Holocaust teaches us that evil and bigotry can take hold unless they are vigorously opposed and challenged.

“Hatred will always be defeated by reason, enlightenment – and the hearts of decent people.”

In Canberra, all 105 federal Coalition parliamentarians have now signed the declaration, with both sides of politics in Victoria also set to commit to the global initiative in the coming days.

Australia: We have a Jewish Problem!

AN attack on a landmark declaration against anti-Semitism appears to have backfired, with more than 50 Coalition MPs signing the historic document this week.

The London Declaration on Combating Anti-Semitism, signed by Prime Minister Julia Gillard on April 23, the first Australian parliamentarian to do so, was blasted this week by Sydney academic Professor Stuart Rees. Rees is a council member of the University of Sydney’s Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, which supports the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. The centre last year tried to stop the university’s Israel Research Forum, which brought together Israeli and Australian academics to share research.

The academic’s tirade came after senior Liberal frontbencher Christopher Pyne signed the declaration, already signed by 125 parliamentarians globally.

“Recently, the University of Sydney was plagued by anti-Israel activists promoting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel,” said Pyne as he signed the declaration.

“Activism, boycotts and sometimes sanctions campaigns aren’t always anti-Semitic, but when you target individual businesses because they are Jewish, it is clearly anti-Semitic.

In an email obtained by The Australian, Rees slammed Pyne’s comments as “the usual childish, thoughtless but easily populist response”.

Asked if his comments also applied to the Prime Minister, he replied: “Of course”.

“The resort to charges of anti-Semitism regarding the worldwide criticisms of the internationally illegal policies of the government of Israel is an age-old technique to stifle any criticism of blatant human rights abuses,” Rees said.

Liberal MP Josh Frydenberg (this ones a Jew by the way… BDL1983) responded by asking a group of Coalition MPs to sign the declaration. After Question Time on Tuesday, dozens of MPs, including Opposition Leader Tony Abbott, followed Pyne’s example. Key Coalition senators were also set to sign it this week.

Describing the wave of support for the declaration as “fantastic”, Frydenberg told The AJN: “The declaration is an important document which shines a light on the resurgence of anti-Semitism worldwide while outlining a series of practical measures to counter this scourge. Only with the efforts of free thinking, community-minded individuals and governments representing both sides of the political divide can we take the united action necessary to build tolerance and understanding in our society.”

Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus, who was among a number of Labor MPs who also signed the declaration, said the PM was acting in the interests of the country. “The Prime Minister represented our nation, our government and the parliamentary Labor Party when she signed the London Declaration Combating Anti-Semitism,” he said.
